Happy New Year! As we start 2020 here are some important dates to keep in mind for SEC filers.
- April 1, 2020 - Smaller fund groups (assets of less than $1 billion) will be required to submit N-PORT filings directly to EDGAR
- June 15, 2020 - Accelerated filers will be required to file using iXBRL. Foreign IFRS accelerated filers are excluded and will phase in with all remaining filers on June 15, 2021.
- September 17, 2020 - Large fund groups (assets of $1 billion or more) will be required to file using iXBRL.
For XBRL filers, the draft US-GAAP 2020 taxonomy stopped accepting feedback on November 8, 2019, so we expect it to be released as usual in March or April.
When planning out your filing schedule for 2020 here are three more things we think you should keep in mind.
SEC Holidays and Hours
The SEC doesn’t accept filings 365/24/7. Make sure to take into account their hours of operation (weekdays, 6 am to 10 pm EST, excluding holidays) and their holiday schedule.

Double Check Filing Deadlines
It’s always a good idea to double-check your filing deadline requirements to ensure no recent mandates or rulings have shifted them earlier!
